OUR JOURNAL

19 September, 1999:

We are currently under construction
…but soon these pages will link to information about us, the truck, the businesses that have made the trip possible, the route we plan to take and a daily journal of our progress.

Thanks for stopping by, check back often, things are moving fast.

Ok! Things are really swinging now. Last week brought with it telling our employers that we are leaving, selling one of the cars, getting some more content up on the site, and nearly finishing up the body-work on Sandy (a million thanks to Joel at Euro-Tek). In the next few days you should start seeing some photographs on The Ride and we plan to get some more content added to some of the other pages as well.
Thanks for checking in, be sure to come back soon.

Spent a good part of the day updating the site and packing up the house. Whew! Lotta work- and wouldn't you know it, the weather finally got wonderful while we were stuck inside. Also got a lot of great email from people visiting the site. It's fun to get the feedback and encouragement that people are offering. Beebee outdid herself by tornado-ing through our den. Boxes, boxes everywhere.
Check out The Travelers and The Ride for some new pictures.

Spent the day underneath Sandy- attacking 17 years of accumulated muck and grime with a power washer. Amazing how much dirt and grease and…gunk was under there. Next Saturday we'll be giving her a new under-coating, and hopefully a new paint job! Other than the paint, all of the body work is now complete- no rust anywhere.

3 October, 1999

With the fresh, clean underside of Sandy sitting right there, Steve just had to get under and try to find the various little drips. Turns out that there isn't much dripping except for the oil-pan gasket and the oil plug. At least, that's the way it looks for now. Steve drained the oil (but forgot a new filter so that'll go on tomorrow with a refill). Wrapped the plug with some teflon tape, hoping to stop the leaking plug. Poured about 2 quarts of oil in to see if the plug still drips.

4 October, 1999

Plug still drips. Not with 2 quarts though. No drips there, just after Steve replaced the filter and filled the engine with all 8 quarts. Then it decided to drip. At least it is slower now than before. Looks like Steve'll have to try something new. Tried to replace the fuel filter too, but the Pep Boys part just doesn't fit very well, gotta get some Toyota filters.

Spirits are high today as we are interacting with sponsors and figuring out what needs to be done. More info to follow. Added a picture or two to The Ride. Experiencing technical difficulties regarding the domain name, but should get that squared away soon.
